I think the driver here, both for the team and for Jet, was the term.
Three years.
They're not back doing this again next year.
And it buys one UFA year.
It also gives them some stability.
Look, this is a young man who has worked his back end off to get to the NHL.
He's a great story.
Undrafted, rookie camp invite.
And everything they put in front of him, he's just gobbled up and shown that he can handle it.
And so this is a big, big day for him and his family.
You celebrate moments like this.
He's a heck of a goaltender, heck of a story.
But I think he wanted to get a deal done.
And listen, arbitration is not what it used to be.
It doesn't get as personal as it used to be.
It's still better if the two sides can come to their own agreement before it gets into that room.
And so they had to literally delay the start of the arbitration.
Both sides asked for a delay because they were that close to a deal, and they got it done at 9.20 when the arbitration was supposed to start at 9 a.m.
Yeah, you know what?
I think term was the issue here, too.
