I do think it's too early to say because so much can still happen.
I always say, like, this is the Mets.
What could go wrong?
Well, this is the Mets.
What could go wrong?
But also, what could go right?
Because you just never know with this team.
I mean, yes, they just lost eight straight, but I've seen this team, in worse circumstances, go on like a 12-game run.
So sometimes it's difficult to tell because the one thing with the Mets is that you always just have to expect โ
that something weird is going to happen, whether that's good, weird or bad, weird, something weird is going to happen probably multiple times throughout the season.
I do think the old adage that Memorial Day is when you can look at the standings, that's kind of a good barometer.
Things can change after that.
A few years ago, we saw the Mets were the worst team in the league until June, and then from June on, they were the best team in the league.
A few years ago, the Braves had that crazy second half run, so things can change in the second half, but I do think that mid-May is a good idea, is a good sort of
benchmark to look and see where are you at pipping lies where are you at hitting lies are these trends consistent or are they sort of aberrations and i think that that could be the mets are going to give or the mets management is going to give this team leeway until about mid-may sure they're not going to just sit back and wait for something to change they're going to work to try to turn this thing around as soon as they can but if nothing has changed
I'm sure the beat will go out tonight for dinner.
I know we're trying to get a group together for that, but no plans.
If anybody has any suggestions, feel free to tweet me or post it on X. I don't know what we're calling it these days.
I'm almost 40.
I call it Twitter.
