Pakistan accuses the Taliban of sheltering militant groups and even aiding some that have been striking the country with increasing frequency and lethality.

The Taliban says they're not to blame for Pakistan's security failures.

Abdel Baset, a writer on South Asia's security challenges, said the strikes will only trigger more violence.

But he adds, Pakistan is running out of options.
