They were retiring...

you know, two, like they're retiring and then like two years later they were dying, right?

That was just like, and so the government were like, that's okay, we can cover it for two years.

But now someone retiring at 66, some people are living into their hundreds and that's 40 years of that state pension the government has to find and pay out.

And also there's people with lots and lots of money that basically just take the state pension because they can.

And they're not repurposing back into the state.

And so therefore, all of us that are paying taxes right now are having to fund that.

And it's just not the math is not my thing.

I think it's a big problem.

I think it needs to be adjusted to something called a double lock.

so that basically it doesn't rise as quickly but also more importantly that it needs to be means tested and sorted out so that the most vulnerable older people get it and meet when they need it but those that don't need it don't shouldn't be taking it do you think in a way the state pension is

I think the title as well, like people think the state pension is just a state given right.

It's not.

It's actually a benefit and the government could decide to not give it out.

And I think that's the thing that people forget.

Like if the government one day were like, we don't have the funds anymore, we can't release the state pension.

everyone will be like, oh my gosh, I haven't been putting into my workplace or thinking about my future.

And that's the dangerous.

Exactly.

There isn't that difference between universal credit and this.
