Because I'm not naturally, especially when I started, I wasn't naturally born for social.

I wasn't recording myself for anything else.

And then when I was doing that, I was like, I'm going to have to kind of put a persona on.

And that persona became like teacher, Abby, the accountant that teaches finance.

A lot of people are building their own versions because

Basically, up until this week in the UK, it was completely unregulated.

And so the FCA, the Financial Conduct Authority, had no real jurisdiction on telling them what to do.

And that was the problem because then it meant that they could effectively pinkwash and make it into some sort of debt that wasn't a debt that was being targeted at women.

It was being targeted at young people because there wasn't an FCA regulation in place to say,

you cannot sell this to over, like you can't sell this to minors, so under 18.

Now there is that.

But there were loads of things that were like crazy wrong with it.

And buy now, pay later is a construct if you are thinking like, well, how do they make money?

Because I think often people think, well, buy now, pay later is great because you buy something now and then you put the money and then it's that £30 dress that means you paid £10 a week for three weeks or you paid that £30 at the end of the month, let's say.

Right.

But what they don't realize is one, it's still a debt.

And two, buy now, pay later companies are making fortunes off of the fact that they're incentivizing you to buy something that you probably couldn't have afforded.

And therefore, they're going back to the retailer you bought it from and taking a commission off of them.

Yep, so that's the point.

So basically, Buy Now, Pay Later companies take commission off the companies that you buy products from.
