Do you think it comes down to if you could think about what you'd spend that 50 on?

I think a lot of people might take the 50 being like, right, well, I need it because I need to spend it on X, Y, Z. Whereas if you're someone that's already financially more comfortable and might have

one percent of it yeah ridiculous it's it's you know it's got it's literally sliding backwards and this is for anyone that's you know doesn't really know too much about inflation it's basically just the idea that this is just getting smaller each year what you so it's basically the albacy if you imagine inflation sits around well what is it at the moment like 2.6 percent if you're earning one percent on your account it means effectively the money in your account is not keeping up with inflation and therefore the value of your money is decreasing over time so what could you could have bought for a

£100 last year now costs £102.

But if you left that £100 in an account that made you 1%, you actually only have £101 this year.

So you can't afford what is now £102.

Does that make sense?

Yeah.

And I think that's the hardest thing for people to get out of their heads is they think, well, it's earning some interest, so that's okay.

And I'm like...

No, what you need to compare it against is what inflation is.

And I think there's, you know, it's even worse when you think about people leaving money in their current accounts.
