When the Freedom Caucus was founded in the first moments, it was because David Schweiker, congressman, was struck from his committee for just trying to offer an amendment on spending that he knew he was going to lose, but he wanted to offer an amendment.
And then when he got in the Republican leadership, they didn't want to embarrass themselves by having a legit spending amendment.
And they punished him.
Well, that was what the Freedom Caucus was about, is a small group could come together and say, you know what, we're gonna force these amendments.
And so that is a lesson I learned from that my that point in my life, which is a small group in the house can come together and actually, if they're serious, start forcing real legislation.
Well, Adam,

Well look, the founders also knew about the great Roman Cincinnatus who came out of retirement, helped save the early Roman Republic and had all this power.
And what does he do?
He goes back to his farm.
It's where we get the name Cincinnati today.
But our founders knew about Cincinnati.
That's one of the reasons George Washington, he after all that power, he gave it back.
And I think that when we look at the problems of where we're heading to in the future.
Maybe we just look back at what our founders kind of thought this country should look like, where you have more citizens who are getting involved in the process, people who get involved in the process who are not necessarily career politicians, who really want to get in, serve, and go back home.
I think that that would strengthen our system.
And but what we have right now, there's a couple of trends that are coming together.
I find incredibly exciting.
And this might be my most controversial take, but I am watching the
the value of money in politics collapse.
