Anyway, finally, I ended up working with a guy called Joe Mount, who is in a band called Matronomy.
Shit.
He sort of became my producer slash collaborator.
And he sort of ended up reconstructing a lot of demos that I sent him and we spruced them up together.
But it took us ages and ages because he's a busy guy and he's always on tour.
But every now and again, we'd get together.
And finally, we finished...
a collection of very odd songs towards the end of last year.
And I think it's going to come out in September this year.
Oh, wow.
So yesterday we were talking about how that was going to work, when it was going to come out, what kind of press was I going to do?
Was I going to try and play anything live?
I met with a journalist called Kate Mossman, who totally coincidentally had been on my podcast a few weeks back.
And it turns out she was going to write my biog, the thing they send out to radio stations and things like that when they're trying to plug the record.
And suddenly I was like talking about this record that I'd made.
And she was asking, what are the songs mean?
I was like, oh shit.
And I said to her at the beginning, you know, it's honestly quite weird for me to be talking about them in terms of actual songs.
Because I don't think of them that way.
I don't think of it as, you know, I'm pleased.
