And it really makes a big so here's a great example of this.
We did a study with every medical student in the Washington area, like Howard, George Washington.
They do this called a standard patient exam where they see if they can correctly diagnose patients.
And for half of them, we did another reflection task, going back to the power reflection.
We said,
When you see your patients today, take their perspective and to help you get in the perspective taking frame of mind, think of a time recently where you successfully took someone's perspective and understood where they were coming from, you know, their vantage point.
And then at the end, the patients don't know anything about the experiment.
We ask them at the end, you know, like how satisfied are you with your interaction?
We also ask them things like trust, but also things that which is one of the most important things for medicine.
Yeah.
are gonna follow their advice, right?
Their protocol, right?
And what we found is that people randomly assigned to the
perspective taking doctors, um, we're more satisfied, trusted the doctor more likely to follow their advice.
And so, you know, this is really a core leadership tool or a power.
Donald Trump is an interesting one because um I I've actually I like this phrase which is you know um I call it the bully effect, which is someone who's really good at taking other people's perspectives, but doesn't have empathy.
So there's perspective taking without empathy.
So he's great at coming up with your weakness, right?
