When you felt like an imposter, you realized you didn't know everything.
And that made you more oriented toward learning from the people around you.
That also made you a little bit more motivated to persist in overcoming obstacles and taking on challenges because you knew you had to put in the effort to get where you wanted to go.
And so Basima's advice is to say, when you feel like you don't know what you're doing yet, like,
That is not a chronic syndrome.
That is a signal that you're in a position where you're about to learn something new.
And I would go a step further, Caddy.
I would say imposter syndrome is a paradox.
Because on the one hand, you're saying, I don't know what I'm doing.
I don't believe in myself.
But you're also saying on the other hand, but I definitely know that I don't know what I'm doing.
And you should definitely believe me on that.
If you doubt yourself, you should also doubt your judgment of yourself.
And I think if multiple people believe in you, it's probably time to believe them.
I think that's right.
But I think a lot of people take that and they say, well, but you don't know me as well as I know me.
Like, you know, I fooled you, right?
I tricked you.
You think I'm capable, but I'm really not.
And what they don't realize is, yeah, you have more information about your own successes and failures and strengths and challenges than anyone else does because you've lived with yourself your whole life.
