Oh, this is such a a heated debate in psychology. matched

There's a camp of researchers who argue that it's adaptive to have positive illusions, to have an overly an overly high opinion of yourself. matched

Um, and that that's good for motivation, it's good for happiness, it helps you recover from breakups and, you know, relationship failures. matched

And then there's a competing camp that says, no, no, no, our data show that those illusions can be adaptive in the short run. matched

But in the long run, if you become untethered from reality, that's a problem. matched

And if you cannot see yourself as other people see you, then you're not going to be able to maintain healthy relationships. matched

You're not going to be able to have, you know, any sense of what your strengths are and then be able to put them to good use. matched

You're not going to be able to overcome your weaknesses. matched

You're going to have a killer. matched

And I think the jury's still out on when and where sort of accurate self awareness versus a positive tint is more helpful. matched

I think that I I I've been pretty convinced by the short-term long term distinction that yeah, in the moment it's it's more enjoyable and it's more motivating to think more highly of yourself than maybe other people think of you. matched

But in the long run, I think that makes it really difficult to achieve meaningful goals and maintain meaningful relationships. matched

And so I would love for self-awareness to matched

be a bigger focus in schools. matched
