Well, there's a number of reasons why people develop phobias and there's not any one which accounts for all phobias that develop.
We definitely know there's a genetic or biology to the development of phobias.
Some people are
more likely to develop fears and to be more sensitive to threats.
So there's there's certainly a component, maybe thirty percent, which is hereditary.
Then on top of that there's evidence that there are certain types of
things that humans are most likely to fear.
We are more likely to fear heights, spiders and snakes, but electricity kills more people, but they're not afraid of electricity phobia is very uncommon.
So
There's a view that there's a biological predisposition that's been learnt over thousands of years, which predisposes humans to fear certain types of things in the environment.

all the reasons.
We know that there are risk factors, but people can have all the risk factors and still not develop a phobia.
So we don't understand it fully.
