Why exactly?

Why are you asking for this opportunity now?

So that was just one of the more weirder things that happened so far in this committee.

They kind of got things back on track to more of a statewide issue after that.

But I was not expecting all of a sudden the city of Chicago to try to jump back into the conversation today.

I was trying to figure that out.

Basically, the whole time he was talking, I'm like, does he have a mint in his mouth?

Is there gum?

It was distracting.

I felt the same way.

Now I will say the one thing that I thought was interesting about

And I don't want to start making this like a Chicago thing because I think it applies to everyone involved in this, whether we're talking about Arlington Heights, Indiana, or the city of Chicago.

One of the things that Stephen Maher did say to kind of defend the city on all this was as they were having discussions with the Bears, one of the problems that they were having was that he said, quote, truly receiving commitment.

from the bears on what they want to do.

And that is very similar to what Governor Pritzker said last week, right?

And some of his public conversations basically being like,

like the bears need to be a little bit more clear here on what they want to do.

Now, obviously they're trying to play all these sides, um, to try to get the best deal possible.

Um, you know, and ideally advance this legislation they need in Illinois to build their big mega project in Arlington Heights.
