They were on the roster last year.

The Bears went out and got somebody else off the street who had been cut multiple times in the same season.

Now, it turned out to be a decent pickup in C.J.

Garner-Johnson, but that told you how they felt about those guys back then.

I don't know what would suddenly be different now.

Cam Lewis is new.

He's been getting some reps with the ones, splitting times with Jalen Jones the last couple days is what we've seen.

But even in the past, he's been more of a tweener between the slot, the safety, not necessarily a full-time starter.

So they seemingly need Kyler Gordon, or they need to go get somebody like Kenny Moore, who's available right now as a free agent, and that could be an option too.

So, yeah, let me back up a little bit on this one and ride the roller coaster with me, if you will, just from my lens.

So how last year went obviously wasn't ideal.

He fought through the injuries.

He made some plays at the end of the season.

I like to keep bringing it up.

He was on the receiving end of that awesome fourth and eight against the Packers, one of the best plays we've seen in years.

So I give him a lot of credit for that.

And he came back in the spring, and I thought he looked awesome.

I thought he looked like himself.

I thought he was running around just fine.

So then we get to that press conference where he's talking about the new normal.
