The point of all that is the defense couldn't come up with the answers, and for a rare time in those 16 years I've been covering this team, on day two of training camp, the offense looked way ahead of the defense.
That never happens.
So it might not look like that tomorrow, but it did today.
And this is what Ben Johnson wants it to look like.
There's just not a lot of answers defensively.
The answers are tilted towards the offense.
And if Caleb can get through his reads and the protections there, and he can throw the ball accurately, boy, are they going to be hard to stop.
And none of that even mentions the possibilities in the run game, which oftentimes get overlooked this time of year because the pads aren't on, and that's totally fine.
But they still expect to be explosive in the run game.
We know Ben Johnson cares about that.
So you add in that to it too, and I really do think that's where you get really excited about what this offense could be this season.
So, yeah, I'll give you an example today because I have this right in front of me right now.
I try to like to focus on something a little bit different every day.
I'll just tell you what stand out to me.
I was watching a wide receiver drills today during the individual period.
And Antoine Randall L really the last couple of days has been focusing on quarterback cadence and hard counts and making sure the wide receivers are watching the ball.
Essentially, block out whatever you're hearing with your ears.
Go on the ball.
You're a wide receiver.
You should never false start, right?
