I mean, I think that

The a lot of the movies that I think people are very excited about this fall are elsewhere.

And that would sort of mean less or be less of an observation if there weren't so many other movies at TIFF.

I mean, we haven't really had a discussion about it as a showcase of Canadian films because I know that that's not a leading issue.

We haven't talked about how good the wavelength section is, which is experimental and avant-garde films, because it's always good, because those programmers always bring it, whether it's films that are being brought from Berlin.

And and and can like uh Nico Pareto's wonderful Everything Else is noise or John Torres The Remotes, which is kind of like Vaporwave Filipino Cronenberg is really good movie, you know, like there are very good movies to see at Tiff, but as an idea of what is shaping the fall, I can't speak for you guys or I can't speak for listeners of this podcast.

And it's not Tiff's fault, but like

James Gray's movie wasn't here, um Paul Tom Sanderson's movie wasn't here, and you know, Behemoth, which is playing at the New York Film Festival, which people are very excited by, wasn't here.

You know, Primetime wasn't here.

in some ways talking about Tiff is recapitulating films that, you know, Amanda saw at Venice or that you guys are all gonna see at the New York Film Festival, but it's with some pretty major ones sort of missing.

And I think the feeling, fair or not, is ten years ago, those things might not have just not been missing.

They might have been present here rather than somewhere else.

There's a whole bunch of tricky reasons for this, you know, and it's not as simple as saying.

TIFF didn't get the good films.

But I know that reading about Primetime or reading about the Nathan Fielder doc or reading about some of the other things that were at Venice was a big part of my TIF.
