Um, you know, as I wrote in the the piece I filed for Ringer, the best thing I saw, I would say for me by a mile was Everytime by Sandra Wolner, which is going to be at the New York Film Festival and is some kind of strange, elusive, bizarre movie.
I mean, most of the people I spoke to liked it.
They liked it without being necessarily sure that they had gotten it.
That's not code for.
Or it's obscure or incoherent.
It's incredibly lucid and brilliantly made.
It's just mysterious.
And that's kind of a rare thing.
A lot of the times movies like this are mysterious, but they're kind of nudging you in the rib saying, Do you get it?
or or giving you a very easy way to interpret it.
It's a film about a family in Berlin, a mother and two daughters.
One is a teenager, one is sort of eight or nine.
Uh something very bad happens involving the older daughter.
I mean, it's not a spoiler.
Almost any review would say that the older daughter dies in an accident.
Uh the film skips what you'd think the movie would be about, which is the immediate grief.
Kind of picks up after the grief has been subsumed into daily life.
