I was close, though.
Well, there is a long, convoluted backstory to all this, which is obviously still being finalized.
But when the Browns redid Myles Garrett's deal,
There were people that suspected at that time that this paves the way for the Cleveland Browns to trade Miles Garrett.
And I truly believe, I know, that when the Browns redid that deal, the idea was to reconfigure
the way and time in which they paid option bonus payments.
Now, most fans don't care about when option bonus payments are paid, but the way it was set up in Miles Garrett's deal was the 15th day of the new league year in mid-March.
They pushed it back to a week before the start of the regular season.
Once they did that, it created more flexibility to trade them.
And so that was a big deal to a lot of teams.
In fact, I had a couple of teams call me and say they're going to trade him.
They're going to trade him eventually.
The Browns are adamant all along.
Like I told you an hour ago, we're not trading him.
We're not trading him.
But the Rams began pursuing Myles Garrett.
They kept pursuing Myles Garrett.
They didn't stop pursuing Myles Garrett until they were eventually –
Willing... To include Jared Verse... In the trade... Once Jared Verse got included in the trade... The Browns were interested... Okay... We get a player now... For the short term... And we get draft pick compensation including... A first round draft pick in 27... That we can live with... That we can live with... And... Miles Garrett is going to fly to LA tomorrow night...
