What gave you the idea to put vampires into ancient Rome?

I think it's always fun reading different vampire fiction because authors like to pick and choose the bits of myth that they take.

I thought it was really creative how you used the sun madness as well because it takes that and it really like ratchets up that part of it.

Yeah, that was a bit different.

So it's, remembering correctly, like when they are born, they have those first few years of their life where they get to, which is so much worse.

Yeah.

Right?

And what age is it again when they?

That's so nuanced.

I think it brings such a great richness to the story.

It's not just like they're evil because they're vampires.

It's like they actually have trauma.
