But now, the Arizona Attorney General and House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries are considering suing Johnson to end the delays.
And then Adelita Grijalva, congresswoman-elect, put out the following video. Let's play it. Hi, friends. Adelita Grijalva, your congresswoman-elect. I'm here in D.C. standing right outside of Speaker Johnson's office. I was certified today. Certified. That means the governor, the attorney general and the secretary of state have all said, yes, she won.
And now they're asking Speaker Johnson, demanding that he swear me in. So that's why I'm here. I came with a lot of my colleagues from the Democratic Caucus and the Women's Caucus. They all joined me in asking, demanding that I get sworn in. I'm going to be here for two days. Speaker Johnson, you want to swear me in?
It is day two here in DC.
Look at me.
I'm surrounded by all of these beautiful structures, these beautiful people, all here to work.
And am I sworn in yet?
No.
Do I know when I'm going to get sworn in?
No.
Speaker Johnson has left the building.
And unfortunately, what that means for us is Southern Arizona does not have a voice here to advocate for you.
You also don't have services in district.
I need to get sworn in in order for that to happen.
Every day that I am here without being sworn in, Southern Arizona loses.
Reach out to Speaker Johnson.
Let him know that I need to get sworn in.
