When I was an undergrad here at the University of Chicago, one of my teachers

said, like, don't call yourself a philosopher.

I mean, like Plato and Aristotle, most people are philosophers.

You're someone who studies philosophy.

Like that's sort of who you know you are.

And I for a long time I used that.

I was like, I study philosophy, I teach philosophy.

And

Yeah.

Like it was then I like at a certain point I was like

Wait, can't you just be a philosopher and like not be that good at it?

Isn't that like I'm I'm not saying I'm a good philosopher, but it is what I'm doing.

Like, yeah, I'm doing the same thing Kant was doing in Aristotle and Plato, like I'm playing that game.

And I think it's important for me, it's important to be like that's the game I'm in.

I'm not in the game of uh like Plato commentary.

I'm i if I'm doing Plato commentary, it's 'cause I think that's part of the game that Plato is in.

So I think it is important to be able to like um access that title and say, like this is what I'm doing.

I'm trying to answer the deepest questions about the human experience.
