For the longest time, these extremely intelligent math graduates, which there's a very small percent, would mostly get headhunted by financial firms in New York like this.
This is Jane Street.
And they would pay them really good salaries to be quants, like you said.
That was their thing.
And they would trade against retail traders and beat their ass.
That's essentially what they're used for.
But now, much like sticks of RAM, the price of these commodities is getting bid up by Sam Altman, okay?
Human beings.
Sam Altman and the AI companies have realized that quants are also exactly what they want for their, don't finish the blank.
Linear algebra.
For their linear algebra token machines.
And so what was already a pretty lucrative spot to be in, Wall Street quant, is now the spot to be in of all jobs.
And basically, they are being bid up by both sides of the coasts of this country with absolutely astronomical salaries.
And people are saying a million dollars for someone right out of college is something people don't even bat an eye at anymore.
They're getting...
you know, like $1.5 million with huge signing bonuses.
They're getting insane, insane amounts to either go to, again, like Jane Street or Citadel or OpenAI and Anthropic.
And that's the bid up.
