Now, one of the theories as to why that has happened, I don't know if this is true or not, but just to sort of advance it.
In Northern Ireland, people like the DUP, in a sense, could always rely on the votes of loyalist communities, regardless of what they actually did in those communities.
There was nobody to the left of them.
OK, so there was nobody really with a sort of a strong programme of investment in these communities.
So there is a sense that, you know, and I guess all political parties are like this.
If your electorate is not sort of pushing you to do better, you may not actually do better.
So there is this group who have been left behind.
And the data, it's absolutely clear that they have been.
Why that is, is open to discussion.
But there is that one theory.
And I think to a certain extent then, and again, people like Sam McBride is touching on this, you know, this is the core problem is the extent to which these people have been left behind.
Now, one of the great sort of misfortunes, I think, during the week is when Gavin Robinson got up in the House of Commons to talk about this.
You know, the main point he made was about the, you know, the poorest border in the Republic of Ireland.
Instead of actually getting up and sort of saying we as politicians are letting down these people.
I mean, the problem here is not immigration.
The problem here is that this is a group of people who will be left behind for 25 years.
I mean, when we talk about these communities that are left behind...
To be clear, the problem is that these communities have not been invested in, not that they are housing a certain number of immigrants.
And what's horrible about this situation, almost since the beginning of time, immigrants are always, in a sense, associated with problems and are blamed.
The notion that these communities would be in a better position if there weren't immigrants living in them is just laughable.
