So it's Uzbekistan.
So it's just to the north of Afghanistan.
And we've got this old Soviet air base that turns out had radioactive materials left behind.
Great, great.
So my arm's a little shorter now.
But our mission at the time is personnel recovery or PR.
The idea is we're going to go bomb the heck out of the Taliban and a little bit of retribution because the idea is to get through the Taliban to bin Laden.
So first you have to soften them up a little bit.
So our job was if somebody were to go down in Afghanistan or what we call denied territory, we would go rescue them.
That lasted a couple of weeks.
Yeah, other pilots, other, you know, the bombers.
And at the time you had B-52s, B-1s, B-2s, and F-14s off the carriers.
That's all it was flying over.
Okay.

You know, like- In the first, yeah.

They were taken off out of the U.S.
