Well, that doesn't mean anything.

Look, it's not that unusual for village fates to be ticketed.

I did look it up.

Lots of places charge a small entry fee.

Yes, I'm not convinced about that, Alan.

I do understand your misgivings, I really do.

I'd much rather the fete was free to all.

But, as you know, this year the committee has agreed to donate a good proportion of the proceeds from the fete to the church.

Given how strapped we are, we're the bell and the roof both needing repair.

And the rest will go to charity, so it really is all in a good cause in one way or another.
