Now, we've been looking at the half marathon, and that turns out to be the age 48.
And the reason that is is because the open time between the very best open-runner male and the open-runner female...
is a factor of 0.8995, and that's also the age factor for a 48-year-old man.
So that's a wash.
A 48-year-old man and a woman running, if they're both good runners, they should run about the same speed.
Well, they haven't really changed very much for the men, partly because the men have been in this running business so much longer, and the tables are just kind of tweaked.
But the women, it's changed quite a bit.
Back when they started this in 1989, they didn't have much data.
And to tell you the truth, the tables were very different.
