And I ended up looking at David Perlmutter for New York Magazine way back in the day.
And I wrote basically a takedown of this guy.
He's just not reputable.
He's been changing his mind all the time.
He's really the sort of embodiment of a guru charlatan.
But what I didn't realize is that there's a lot of people that believe in this guy and he helped them by scaring the crap out of them about gluten.
He actually also scared them into just paying attention to their diet.
They got better.
And, and, and, and,
sort of trying to take him down is, I guess, ironically, also trying to take down the thing that worked for them.
I mean, again, just a short story, but when I was in divinity school, we used to make fun of prosperity gospel guys.
There's this guy, Joel Osteen.
