Well, the only reason I think Belly is the MVP is because the two run single is all of the offense that the American League needed, apparently.
So that's why I'm going to go ahead and say that Belly is the MVP in that respect, only because Miguel Vargas with the home run and giving him I think it was a four to nothing lead at that time.
um you know it didn't factor necessarily into the decision of the game but what i think we need to talk about more so leila is the fact that miguel vargas um was like such a sad puppy two years ago three years ago when the los angeles dodgers traded him away and i think obviously everybody knows about the uh you know him sitting in the dugout when they were playing the athletics and he looks so sad it
looked like he you know had just lost his dog um and from what he went through to become an all-star this season and kind of reinvented himself um and and proved to the world why they shouldn't have traded him away i think is the bigger story and i'm so grateful that he was able to find success in chicago i know that he was very proud to be named as an all-star um not only for the white socks in terms of a representative but also uh for his cuban brothers i think there were more cuban players um
on the all-star roster this year than ever before he's very close to Andy Pahez so that was really cool for him obviously a role as Chapman holds Miguel Vargas in very high regard so I'm happy for him I'm proud of him because obviously he got traded away the Dodgers go on to win two more World Series and he wasn't a part of that but he's finding his way and he's finding his place in Chicago and and he's he's an all-star and it was it was very deserved.
No, I think you're right.
I think it's a lot of fun to get to know these other players that we don't necessarily cover on a daily basis.
And I think if you ask any of the players themselves, that's what they enjoy the most.
It's being in the same clubhouse, the same dugout with the best of the best guys that they don't necessarily get to play with or against that often.
You'll often hear guys talk about how much they want to play.
pick the brain of this guy or learn from this guy or watch the way that this guy goes about his business and they're finally in the same room for a couple of days and make no mistake about it the all-star break is not really a break these guys are torn in a lot of different directions and there's a lot of demands on them there's a lot of things that they need to do
But they can look around the room and be like, wow, I'm one of the elite.
I too am an all-star.
And you just get to figure out different perspectives from different guys that have played the game, guys that are at very different levels in their career.
I mean, you have the Justin Verlanders of the world, and then you have the rookies of the world that are all in the same room.
And it's a really cool experience, not only for the players, but certainly for the media that has a chance to talk to guys that they may not normally get to do.
Yeah, it almost feels like a breakup, right?
Well, you have a you have a guy that leaves the team, whether it's because he chooses to go away and free agency, or he gets traded away.
And there isn't necessarily that closure for fans.
