But again, I suppose, so if you look at it that way, the AFLW starts the following weekend.
So they were trying to see where they could fit it into their...
a curtain raiser kind of type thing pre-season yeah and then that runs till the end of November so then if you're looking at it from the LJFA season type of things that's obviously then in the middle of the club championship now alas like a lot of those players wouldn't be able to play anyways because the contract situation and the professional nature of it and oftentimes they kind of sign off that they're
not going to play LJFA at all, which is something that's increasingly creeped in over the last few years, especially that didn't used to be the way at all.
A lot of the times it used to be that, you know, you could kind of play your LJFA club season or then your county, inter-county season and then come over when that was all finished because obviously it used to line up more in that capacity.
But that's kind of being cut out.
So, yeah, you're left with this situation where the LJFA is best and brightest
40 of them are going to be in the North Sydney Oval on Saturday and that and some more are going to be in Crowe Park on Sunday it's definitely caused a lot of contention I was actually chatting to Diane O'Hara who's the Mayo manager and Paul Casey who's one of the joint Dublin managers this week about it for a piece and like basically they were saying you know
The timing isn't great and, you know, it probably highlights the issues further of the AFLW's impact on the LGFA.
But at the same time, what can you kind of do?
And like Colby, as many people know, there's always that line, you know, you can't begrudge them going and jeez, I wouldn't stop anyone travelling.
But it's not to say it doesn't have an effect back at home either.
Yeah, if people haven't seen it, you should definitely look it up and look up the pictures too, because as you say, it's interesting to see Gerard Burns and some of the best LGFA players to play the game.
And then maybe people that are other squad members that people would recognise from other sports, like Niamh Fahey is in there as well, the Ireland international, she was playing for Galway at the time and included in this series and lots more to match as well.
So,
Yeah, two game series, one in Parnell Park, one in Breffney Park in Cavan.
And as you say, the second one seemed to be a bit contentious.
Just, yeah, put the scoreboard back to zero.
And yet, as Gerard Burns remarked, they went on to hammer them anyways.
When I was chatting to Cora about this a few months back, she was just saying, you know, the poor Aussies just couldn't get used to the Gaelic football.
