And then I helped lead, as a venture partner at USV, I helped lead the CRSA and Etsy and joined the Etsy board.
And then I became a GP in the second fund, which was the 2008 fund.
Well, you know, each firm is different, right?
I mean, um, there are, the economics are divided, you know, um, differently in every, in every partnership.
Um, but as a first approximation of,
If you're a venture partner in a firm, you tend to have economics primarily in the deals or exclusively in the deals that you lead.
Whereas when you're a general partner, you have economics in the entire portfolio.
I think that's a good first approximation.
Yeah, I mean, that really was my wife's project.
I mean, I wrote some of the code for it.
That was pretty much it.
It was an early serialization of content via email, actually, at the time.
I'm going to publish a blog post tomorrow that has some fresh code that I've written.
I started thinking about it around the same time that I started joining Union Square Ventures.
It goes that far back.
I'd come to the sort of realization that
there was a very large-scale change that was happening and that I wanted to dig into it harder and understand it better.
So I started giving a series of talks, and they were also grappling with the same question, which is really the question, like, what is digital technology?
What is its nature?
And how is it changing the things that we can do as humanity?
