That part I don't like.
I don't mind...
on the whole, the attitude of players to be watching the World Cup on TV or live in the stadium, as the case may have been, and thinking... I should be there.
I could have done this here.
I could have been useful there.
Because that is something that any of us who were young players at any point thought every time that our national team was playing.
It's like, why am I not there?
I could help the team do this.
And it's just thinking...
that you are the competitor that you are and feeling like you can be useful to a team.
Now, you come to learn as you get older that it's not as easy as you watch it on TV, and so therefore it must be easy to do on the field at the national team level.
I can picture a young Casey Keller watching Tony Meola or David Vannoli and thinking, I could be doing better than this guy, which may have been the case or not.
So I don't mind that attitude of thinking,
I'm going to put myself in a position in which, if given an opportunity, I could help the team.
I don't mind that.
What I do mind is, I think it was Gozo in particular who said, I deserve to be in the World Cup.
And maybe it's the nuances that Casey's talking about in terms of how to express yourself and not having the experience to do this through the media and through these platforms.
Deserve is not the word.
Yeah.
because it would have been great for him to have been part of it, but when he's saying he deserved it, meaning that means that there are others in that group, because somebody else would have to have been taken out, that didn't deserve it.
