But it's particularly acute in fertility clinics, I think, because

you either get a baby at the end or you don't.

And often if you don't, you feel like it's been denied to you in some way, or you've been treated badly, or there's been a mistake, there's been a kind of human error, or the doctor's been really unkind when you've miscarried or whatever it is.

Like you feel strongly about the fact that it went wrong, or you feel very strongly about the fact that it went well and you've got a baby.

So you're incredibly grateful.

Some are like, yeah, it wasn't great, but it was fine.

But that's particularly the case with egg freezing, obviously, because most people never use their frozen eggs.

So you don't actually know how that process is going to pan out in the long term.

But in terms of IVF and actually trying for a baby, it feels like there are two extremes of the experience.

Well, I wish I could tell you more about the legal landscape.

It's very opaque.

I don't think even the clinics themselves are entirely clear about the legal landscape.

But yeah, I focused a lot of my research on Northern Cyprus, which happens to be where my mother is from and where I spent a lot of time as a child.

And it's not an internationally recognized country.

It's actually viewed as occupied territory.

So the reason that's significant is that it operates in many ways, and not just in the fertility sector, but in other ways where regulation is just not really a thing.

And they don't have to sign up to EU regulations or anything like that.

I should say that clinics in northern Cyprus generally have a very good word of mouth reputation, and they're cheap.
