I don't know if you've read.
There was one in Wired recently in New Yorker.
For me, I was really glad those articles are written, not because I am critical of surrogacy and I want there to be bad press about surrogacy out there, which, by the way, some people assume some people assume my book is anti-surrogacy.
It's not.
I just want to open up the conversations about the pitfalls and the weaknesses in the system, even in the US, which is held up as like, you know, the poster child of a surrogacy industry.
It's it's much better than many other markets.
It's not perfect.
And we need to talk about why it's not perfect.
Great question.
So I knew very little.
I didn't know there was a breast milk market until I had my child and I had an oversupply of milk.
So I had all this frozen breast milk in the freezer and it was going to go to waste and I wanted to donate it.
I knew that was possible, although it isn't widely known, actually.
I happened to have a friend in Amsterdam who donated her breast milk to a hospital.
So that's what I set out to do.
And what I discovered while I was researching that was the online market, which took me by surprise.
I decided to post an ad in the spirit of research.
I was never intending to sell my milk because morally, I personally didn't want to do that.
I've tried to be very open-minded in my research and nonjudgmental about women who do sell their milk, but I personally didn't want to.
I didn't feel comfortable, but I wanted to see who would approach me
