It's not regulated in the UK and the US.
It's actually classed as a food.
So breast milk is the only bodily fluid substance that's classed as a food.
The FDA and the FSA both advise against sales of breast milk, but it's not illegal.
And honestly, I don't know who would trust breast milk that is sourced online because the dangers for the consumer are obvious.
So when I donated to a hospital, I had to go through so many hoops.
I had to have my blood tested for STDs, for IVs.
all sorts of things.
I had to sign forms promising not to have ibuprofen, Advil.
I can't remember.
It was a big saga to get through before they even agreed to accept my milk, which was then screened for pathogens.
It was pasteurized.
It's being given to premature babies in hospitals, so the protocol is very strict.
There's obviously none of that for something you're buying online.
That kind of goes without saying.
I don't think a lot of the men buying breast milk online care about that.
They probably wouldn't care if it was actually cow's milk that some random person is putting into bottles and shipping to them.
It's the idea of buying it that they like.
So I'm less concerned about that.
