And so I think, to be honest, I think that this beast has kind of gotten out of hand.
The influencer marketing efforts in politics have totally gotten out of hand.
Did you know that in politics, it's the only industry in America that you don't have to disclose if you're paid for a post in?
If you get paid to promote a bikini, you have to say paid ad.
If you get paid to promote gambling markets, it says paid partnership.
If you get paid to tank or attempt to tank a specific piece of congressional legislation, you don't have to say anything.
And what has happened, there used to be, Megan, there used to be an organic element of this.
And my focus was on identifying values-aligned political candidates and partnering them with social media influencers who believe the same things that they believe in.
And so if you look at my FEC reports, which I try to be as transparent as possible about what clients I work with.
It's no secret that I get paid to support President Donald J. Trump online.
I support the president regardless and ultimately got hired by his team to help run social media efforts.
So that's not a secret.
But we work with a lot of Republican candidates and politicians across the country to help amplify their voices on social media.
That has been my business since day one.
That's not a secret.
However, this industry
has been totally hijacked by special interest groups who use them to shill against certain policies of the administration or certain congressional legislation, and also by foreign entities and foreign nations.
And so I think it's been, there used to be this organic element to the right-wing social media sphere
And also, I want to just say it's not only a right wing problem.
The left wing also has their cabal of influencers, but their cabal of influencers are subsidized in large part by some of their donors.
