Like I wasn't just a replaceable piece of the mud machine, but I was special.
I had a destiny to fulfil.
The rush of when I was first invited to one of their gatherings was like nothing else.
I could feel the power in their ceremonies and I felt a wave of it wash over me and I was taking the oath.
I still don't know if it was truly his power or just my adrenaline at first.
They made me feel special.
Told me of old powers in our world too vast and brilliant for most people to understand.
They told me that I was a link indeed eternal change.
And for the first time I really knew I had the power to change things.
But as I started to attend more regularly,
I started to feel sidelined again.
There were layers to the organization, you see, although I didn't know about at first, but it became clearer the longer I spent with them.
Once the glow of my initial welcome had worn off, it became all too clear.
That I was just another body in the organization.
But it was really the inner circle that made all the decisions, that held the true power.
I'd heard there were
ways to advance.
And I pleaded to be allowed
To gain the knowledge and the power, yeah, but most importantly to feel like I truly mattered to them.
