For an eternity.

I thought he somehow knew it was me.

But then he asked f for my help.

Relief flooded through me like a drug.

Maybe I wasn't so bad at this after all.

And from there it just kind of got away from me.

We spent

More time together.

It was nice to get to know him outside of work.

He liked chess too, so we started going to this club nearby every Tuesday for a few games, and we fell into a tradition of fish and chip Fridays, followed by a pint or three, down the pub.

I noticed how he smiled without realizing it when he was researching some dry tome.

I noticed how the corners of his mouth turned up in excitement when he was waiting to say some relevant fact or interesting tip tip, how his eyes flitted about the room, always curious, always alive.

I didn't want to fall in up with him.

But eventually I admitted to myself that I had.

I'd never loved a man before.

I never loved anyone, I think.

But to go from the loneliness of my past life to having a partner in crime, someone who wanted to spend time with me, it was intoxicating.

I loved how we spent our time too.

Reading, researching, taking trips to some overlooked historical site.

I hadn't believed I'd ever find someone who liked those things as much as I did, and here I'd found one.
