You need to figure out how you're going to raise them.
so i was surprised by that so pick them up luckily at the time our farm had a little orchard apple orchard we built a little pen underneath the little apple trees and that was where my first few groups of pigs were raised and did it that way and it was cool and then when my then girlfriend came around we wanted to expand a little bit she lived local
And we were thinking about doing cows, but our property is not quite big enough for cows.
And I can call 10 friends right now and buy half a beef.
So we were like, well, let's do something a little different.
And we got into sheep.
And we first started out, she had dairy sheep.
And then I had meat sheep.
And we thought we would have two different flocks.
And that quickly turned into she had it all because she's a sheep lady and she's crazy for it.
So...
She's in charge of the sheep herd and I'm in charge of the pigs and we kind of meet in the middle with the poultry.
My dad bought this first set of pigs.
Were they Berks?
No, I wish.
They were some kind of crazy crossbred.
They just happened to be there.
My first sow I bought was from a good friend of mine, Andy Bauer.
He sold me a Burke sow, and she did wonderful, and I just fell in love with them ever since.
