Yeah, massive day of the British sporting calendar in the UK is the boat race, university boat race between Cambridge and Oxford.
And yeah, it's the first time I'd ever done a commentary on a rowing contest.
And I thought I'd start with the most famous one of them all.
So no pressure at all.
It was really lovely to learn a new sport from scratch.
But there are parts of it where I was like, could I just not have gone on a beach here?
This would have been nicer to have a holiday than this.
than to learn everyone's backstory.
But it was a lot of fun.
And I'm really glad that Channel 4 asked me to do it.
It was a great day.
Yeah, I think I got that gig because they were like, who's going to get excited at sport?
Oh, yeah, we know a guy.
Yeah, a guy from July at Silverstone.
Yeah, I think you'll be into it.
So I was very, very glad that they rang.
Yeah, it has been a bit of a, not a culture shock, but it certainly led to having to examine what goes into your commentary and what doesn't go into your commentary, certainly from my side, in a way that I haven't had since I started.
And I started commentating in 2011 and I started commentating on motorsport in 2015.
There's always been a muscle memory to it and a rhythm.
Whilst you can get different championships, it's all basically pointed in the same direction.
