Remember that companies can add their own information to these sites.
And also remember that you might not be getting a wide swath of responses at a representative from every type of employee from a company, right?
So it's also important to read between the lines of just as important as what is written on those sites, maybe what isn't.
So if you see a certain policy coming up a lot, but working from home is really important to you and you don't see any mentions of remote work or work from home, keep an eye out for that.
Read between the lines.
Well, first it's important for employees to identify their needs and wants.
So some employees will care a lot about flexibility in working hours, working from home, parental leave, paid parental leave.
Others may be looking to start a family and may care a lot about fertility treatments.
So depending on what's most important to you, it's a good idea to ask a former employee about that.
And you can ask them, you know, how often, if at all, were you able to work from home?
How much flexibility did you have in your working hours?
Was it sort of a high work volume environment?
Were there a lot of after work events?
Were there a lot of company off sites?
Was there on site child care?
I mean, it makes sense when you're talking to somebody who was formerly at a company, you can be a little more direct.
When you're speaking to a hiring manager or recruiter, you might have to be, you know, a little more careful about how you phrase your questions.
This is a really tricky area and experts had different opinions on this.
Some say it makes sense to assess your situation and say, you know, as a job seeker, are you juggling a few offers?
