You really still need a platform and some sticks.
I mean, in theory, what you need, you need a saddle, right?
That's the core.
That's your harness.
It's your safety aspect.
You need something to climb the tree.
So that's your sticks of any kind.
And after that, you need something to stand on.
So that's your platform.
the safety aspect you're talking about is the lineman belt tree tether uh it's kind of mandatory to have two for the exactly the scenario you're talking about there you should in theory climb the tree with your lineman belt on and put your tether on so you are attached at all times there's no point in time that you are detached from anything which is what happens in a hang-on quite a bit when you get those accidents these guys get too comfortable
With their preset, they skirt up the tree with that alignment belt and they go to take that step onto the hang-on.
That ratchet strap's been sitting there for fucking three years.
Or you slip or whatever, you miss your step in the dark.
And the saddle, by default, if you climb with alignment belt, which you need to do because you need your hands to continuously hang your stick, so you need a point of contact.
When you do that, you get to the top, you leave your alignment belt on, you put your tether on the tree, you connect.
You're now connected twice.
So then you take that lineman belt off once you set in.
But at all points of time, you are tied to the tree and under tension, which is where you get that comfort feeling you're talking about.
You need a platform.
You need sticks.
