Prosecutors say he came all the way here from Pakistan with a plan to kill President Trump at a campaign rally.

And he says that plan was backed by the Iranian regime.

47-year-old who's been in court now for a matter of days after prosecutors say he traveled here.

With that assassination plot in mind, he's facing federal terrorism charges he was hit with, which could carry a life sentence.

Merchant testified in his own federal trial explaining that Iranian leadership wanted President Trump dead.

So they sent him to the U.S.

to hire some criminals that could assassinate the president at a campaign rally.

They were still cleaning up from a snowstorm weeks ago.

We're now dealing with blizzard-like conditions.

And that's why there is a travel ban.

Investigators tell us that this transgender gunman started shooting, killing his own son and his ex-wife.

So police have identified the shooter as Robert Dorgan.

Investigators say he went by Roberta Esposito.

Police say this was a targeted attack.
