And I knew that I had to post in the same way you have to die 100 times on stage before you have a good gig.
You have to post 100 videos before you have a viral one.
And I just thought, well, I'm doing the 100 bad gigs now.
Why don't I also do the 100 bad videos?
No, that was just clips from gigs.
My first 50 videos were stand-up from open mic where there's five people in the room and I did a pretty average joke and then I'd spend an hour editing it and then it would get 17 likes and then I'd go, great, that's another bad video out.
Let's go, let's go, let's go.
In the same way that when you have a bad open mic, you go, great, well, that's another...
bad gig gone.
Well, or if you want, if you need an incentive, I'm incentivized by wanting to be good and wanting to be successful.
And if you go, look, I know it's going to take 10 years to get good.
So let's just not worry about being bad in year one because I know that's going to happen.
There's a thing in sales which is a bit douchey where they go, you're going to get a yes every hundred no's.
So get those hundred no's out as quick as possible.
Get the no and celebrate it because it means you're one closer to the yes.
And I think you can do the same thing in comedy.
And I think a lot, it's funny you bring up Jimmy Carr because I think that marketing background, that's what I used to do for tech companies was growth and marketing.
And I think there are the exact same principles to trying to grow a career in comedy.
You're just the product now.
