Like, I had it in an adult conversation.
And I think part of that came down to having four older siblings who naturally I probably idolised a little bit.
And so when they would come over for dinners and they were in their 20s and 30s and I was 10, 11, just a bit young to be staying up.
The way to stay at the dinner party was to act like an adult.
I knew that if I was the annoying kid, I'd be sent to bed.
But I wanted to stay up.
You know when you're a kid and you're like, I just want half an hour more at the table.
And if I joined in in the banter and I could make them laugh, and if I could act like an adult, despite the fact that I was drinking apple juice, I always thought it would keep me at the table longer.
And I think that is how I was constantly acting.
I think if you were a parent of one of my friends, you would just see me as very confident.
probably quite loud a bit precocious probably I think that's like I don't chippy was the I think the term we used at school like I would chat to the older boys and I would give it back because I liked the chat I liked that game and at Eton and this is explains all of those PMQs where David Cameron destroys whatever you know it's like if someone takes the piss out of you and you can give it back like there's kind of a respect there
I didn't see a massive amount of physical bullying, although I'm sure it does happen at all body schools, but it was more of a like, can you survive with your words?
Like, have you got the gift of the gab?
Yeah, I do look at my journey from like...
having older siblings where our whole relationship is based on humour and then going to an all boys boarding school where the hierarchy is based on humour and humour is survival.
Like if you're funny and you don't annoy the older boys you're less likely to get bullied.
It does feel like the perfect, looking back on it, it's the perfect pipeline to comedian.
I was 13, I wasn't eight, which is what some boys go, yeah.
