Because by contrast, Southampton go into the season with Tondoreka in the dugout and with broadly the same group of players that picked up the most points in the league for the second half of last season.
So just in terms of what you expected to see out the traps, I would have expected to see Watford feeling each other out, so to speak, given that it was a group of players that haven't played much or any competitive football together, really, and maybe Southampton that would come

Such good energy and intensity to Watford's play in the first half.

So uh Jack Stevens played an insane pass on the bounce, basically just looping one into a huge gap in the middle of defense after Doombier had done a pretty good job at kind of wrestling.
Him and Harwood Bellis from a long pass forward, and Eke Bravo arrived on the scene, took it so well.
Like you can see that it's opened up for him, but even so, had so much to do.
His first touch, his second touch, and his third touch were all perfect to evade the defenders that were trying to get back, and then finished well past Perez.
And then it was 2-0, where um Ryan Manning, who's playing left back,
Yeah, he rolled into midfield, very much kind of doing the inverted left back into central midfield.
The idea there is to try and open up the space out to the left, which is clearly where um Southampton's attacks skew.
They had Dobbin and Sienza playing, and they started off with Dobbin wide left and Sienza in the ten.
They sort of flitted around a little bit, and it was clear they were trying to get the ball out wide and get those two to combine.
But they it didn't really.
