your head coach, your manager at any given time has such a big impact on your ability to move up the leagues.
You might say that over a 10-year career, if you are good enough, you will get there.
But when you're really young, so Dylan Lawler, good example, is a centre-back for Cardiff.
He's 19 and he's unbelievable, but he'd never played before this season.
And Barry Murphy went, yep, that's a young John Stones.
He's going to be my starting centre-back.
Can you do that?
Do we need someone with more experience?
No, I want this guy.
So he's gone from never playing a senior game in his life to probably being worth 20 million quid.
Like that's how good he's looked under Barry Murphy.
And you just think if they'd hired someone else, whoever it might be, it doesn't matter.
And they'd gone, actually, yeah, could you sign me to experience centre-backs?
Because that's what I think I need to get out of the division.
Then Lawler, who knows what happens?
He either doesn't play, maybe goes on loan.
That's rolling the dice down in League Two.
It is incredible to me how much of an impact a head coach can have on a young player and
And it makes the club a lot of money as well because they certainly saved a lot of money by not splashing the cash in the summer.
And he certainly built the value of this squad and these young players and given an unbelievable feeling around the place as well.
