It was about women being taken seriously and having the right to participate fully in society.
And so this all connects us to the suffrage movement.
Absolutely.
And a big part in this campaign was clothing itself.
So they developed this outfit called the suffragette suit.
And a key part of this, which is quite fun, is that it has loads of pockets.
Okay.
And this was a big, big moment um in fashion history.
And actually a New York Times article from 1910.
It was literally titled Plenty of Pockets in a Suffragette suit.
So it was newsworthy that this had a lot of pockets.
And what it was made up of was this short coat that had pockets on the side.
They had the divided skirts, which had two pockets in the front and two behind.
And altogether there would have been about seven or eight pockets.
And the point was.
That all of them were in sight, they were easy to find, so
you know, not like the under the armpit pockets that are really awkward.
Yeah, yeah, not none of the bustle pockets.
These are really practical um for daily use.
And um when you look at images of suffragettes f being arrested by policemen, you see them in these suffragette suits.
