We voted yesterday, after a year of work, to close for K-12 education a single school in Lauderdale Lakes, Broward Estates. podcast-host

The plan that was approved will convert that facility into an early learning center. podcast-host

That'll be our second facility in Broward County, one in Hallandale and one in Lauderdale Lakes, where we've kept facilities open to do wraparound community services, to do early learning and the like. podcast-host

I don't know if that's sustainable forever. podcast-host

That is not our mission. podcast-host

We will have to talk to the municipalities and talk to the county about those things long term. podcast-host

But for the near term, that was the one big decision that we made. podcast-host

We also discussed roughly 33 schools over the next X years if we want to get to a very efficient model. podcast-host

So if we want to spend money actually educating the next generation of Broward County residents, we can't continue to have the footprint like we had when we had 250,000 students. podcast-host
