So as a rule, because we are a family of four, we had $4,000 in our emergency fund.
Now, you might not be comfortable with that.
You might say, that is not enough money.
I need way more than that.
And that's fine.
You have to ask yourself what you are comfortable with.
But I think a lot of it is going to depend on how many people are in your family and
what your current expenses are, how stable is your job.
There's a lot of factors that go into play, but if you feel like you are continuously pulling money from your emergency fund, we might need to look at your budget and we might need to look at your emergency fund amount and possibly increase it.
My last tip is that when you are working to either build up your savings for the very first time or rebuild your savings after you have to use it, one of the things I highly recommend is visually tracking your progress.
Maybe it's because I was a teacher...
in my past career and I like seeing things visually or maybe I'm just a visual person.
I don't know.
But there's something about shading in a thermometer or having some sort of coloring tracker where you can actually track your progress so you can visibly see how you are making progress.
It is so motivating to have something to track a goal you are working towards.
So
If you're feeling down, if you're feeling frustrated, I highly recommend that you get yourself an easy visual tracker.
You can honestly just go online and Google savings tracker, free savings tracker, free savings coloring sheet.
You'll be able to find so many that you can print and print it out, color it in, and visually see that progress.
It will help keep you motivated.
