To not associate with somebody who claims to be a brother or sister, aka they claim to be a follower of Christ, but they persist in serious, unrepentant sin.

That's the distinction here.

Those are the types of verses that are taken completely out of context.

Where it's like, no, Paul never said don't associate yourself ever, ever, ever with people who are sexually immoral.

He's saying, Don't associate yourself with somebody who claims to be a Jesus follower and is really tight with Christ and fears God, but then persistently, meaning like they refuse to acknowledge their sin.

They've been confronted with their sin and they're like, No, I don't I'm gonna live this way.

And they are persistent in their serious sin and they don't repent of it, yet those are the people you wanna avoid, right?

Cause that is also the scripture that is speaking to like bad company corrupts good character.
